Description: |
Working in collaboration with the College’s Marketing Department, the upgrade of the College’s website includes improved access to real time information regarding programs and services, on line catalog, a shopping cart feature for prospective students, simplified application form, on-line help and search features, on line calendar, improved ability to support interactive marketing, improved search ability of College content on major search engines including Google, multi-media and web 2.0 integration. |

Project Name: |
Upgrade networks and telephone system |
|
Description: |
This project will upgrade the existing PBX based telephone system and end of life network switches with Avaya VoIP and upgraded Juniper switches. The upgrade will allow for expansion of infrastructure that supports hybrid / distance learning and wireless access to online learning resources such as BlackBoard (an instructional delivery and content management system), hosted instructional software and streamed multi-media content. The upgraded edge switches will also support Power over Ethernet which is required to power Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) handsets. The VoIP system will also support hybrid / distance learning by providing a technology platform for remote collaboration and virtual classrooms. |

Upgrade Banner to Version 8. |
|
Description: |
Banner 8 upgrade includes internationalized data which can allow documents to contain multiple languages. This helps pave the way to support Banner functionality enhancements in future releases. A major release upgrade also helps resolve existing coding errors in the current system. Enhanced security authentication was also available within the Banner 8 release and allowed us to move to network authentication for our SOS users. |

Upgrade College Email Systems |
|
Description: |
This project will upgrade the existing email system to Exchange 2007 and install automated email archiving. Email archiving will allow the College to retain emails up to 5 years. |

Project Name: |
Implement Self Service Password Resets |
|
Description: |
Password self-service process ties in nicely with the Banner 8 upgrade. SOS users now can utilize more secure password settings, going from 6 digit numeric pin to a minimum of 8 digits that includes alpha / numeric characters. This same password will allow active students to log into the network while on campus. |

Develop Master IT plan and support the bond construction program |
|
Description: |
The Master IT plan is a major component of the strategic planning initiative set forth by the SJC IT department. It is to insure clear guidance on major initiatives with focus on industry quality standards and practices. Once developed, it will be used as the primary guidance for Technology Standards used in the new Facilities that are part of the bond construction initiative as well as any changes to the existing SJC environment. |

This project will review the mission and requirements of the Call Center and recommend improvements to service levels, technology and human resources. Business processes will be designed to identify opportunities for automation. |

Implement Virtual Desktops & VPN implementation (VDI, Stoneware & Desktop Streaming) |
|
Description: |
Provide web based virtual desktops to all students and staff – accessible from the College’s website. Replace lab machines with streaming desktops. Streaming desktops are installed in servers located near the classroom. This technology will improve energy efficiency, total cost of ownership and improve the ability to support technology in classrooms. |
