Welcome to the San Jacinto College District

Now in its 48th year, San Jacinto College is a public community college in Harris County, Texas, serving the Channelview, Deer Park, Galena Park, La Porte, Pasadena and Sheldon Independent School Districts. At the heart of the San Jacinto College learning experience are its three campuses, located to provide easy access for all citizens of the San Jacinto College District.

In May of 1960, voters in the District approved the creation of East Harris County Union Junior College. A seven-member Board of Regents was established, and on February 16, 1961, the name was changed to The San Jacinto College Junior College District. In September of that year, 876 students attended the College at its location in Pasadena, Texas. Since then, the College has grown to include three campuses, 11 extension centers, continuing and professional development programs, distance learning, and an enrollment of more than 25,000 students.

San Jacinto College offers more than 140 academic and technical programs. The College also partners with several Texas Universities to provide easy transfer programs for students who wish to continue their higher education. High school students can jumpstart their college education and earn up to 24 hours of college credit through the College’s Dual Credit program. Students also have the option of getting their degree through San Jacinto College’s distance learning program.

The Continuing & Professional Development division of San Jacinto College offers programs for individuals who want to increase their skills, grow in their jobs, or make transitions to new careers. Through its partnerships with the business community, the division helps to meet employers’ demands for a highly skilled workforce while helping current professionals reach their full potential.
