The Certificate of Technology prepares you for the degree program, an entry-level career, or advancement in your current career. Texas handles nearly 50 million tons of freight shipments per year, with more than 200,000 barge transports in Houston alone. If you're studying part-time, you can complete the 26 credits for this certificate in five terms.

Continuing Ed

Jumpstart your maritime career or advance in your current profession with these U.S. Coast Guard certified continuing and professional development courses. From personal survival techniques to fire fighting to radar observation, you can find everything you need to enhance your maritime career with our deck and engine courses.

These courses vary in length and contact hours but each course is completed less than 3 months.

Maritime Transportation AAS

Technical Degree

The Associate of Applied Science degree prepares you for an entry-level career.Set sail into your new career with a degree program designed by mariners for mariners. Learn essential maritime skills directly from licensed, experienced mariners.

2 Years

If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 60 credits for this program in six terms, including two summer terms.

Lateral Entry Program

Ready to take the plunge with maritime?

Join us for a free one-hour session to learn what it takes to become a mariner. You'll get insight into the maritime transportation industry, learn about our two-year maritime transportation program, tour our beautiful facility and state-of-the-art simulators, and hear sea stories from our U.S. Coast Guard-approved instructors.

Information sessions are held on designated pre-scheduled days. There are in person, virtual and late evening sessions available.
