Support CPET’s Groundbreaking Initiatives

At CPET, we work to improve the petrochemical, energy, and technology industries with new projects and opportunities for the next generation of workers. Support from industry leaders is key to our success. Here are ways that individuals and businesses can help us and be recognized as CPET partners.

Technology is always changing, and our equipment and faculty need to keep up. This $2 million endowment would provide:

  • Resources for upgrading equipment and technology
  • New equipment and training to meet industry standards
  • Support for faculty and staff development

By contributing to this endowment, you help CPET stay at the cutting edge of the industry.

This $2 million donation will sponsor  the  exterior unit designed by industry engineers to separate glycol and water. The unit includes:

  • A tank farm
  • A gas-fired boiler
  • A cooling tower
  • 3-story distillation column
  • Pumps
  • Exchangers
  • Separation instrumentation

Built on an 8,000-square-foot layout in CPET’s Control Room, the glycol distillation unit will serve as an educational tool for students who will monitor and operate the system.

This $1 million donation will help pay for CPET’s Process Simulator Lab. The lab uses software to show how different processes work, helping students and teachers learn about things like refining, distillation, reactors, and batch processing.

To keep providing great, real-world learning experiences for our students, we’re always improving our systems, buildings, and labs. Here are some ways you can help support CPET’s growth:

  • A $500,000 sponsorship for the Craft Training Center, which offers both credit and noncredit courses, plus industry training. This center has a large industrial lab and classrooms for courses in pipefitting, millwright, boiler-making, and industrial maintenance.
  • A $100,000 to $250,000 sponsorship for skills labs focused on specific industries, including process technology, electrical training, instrumentation, and nondestructive testing.
  • A $100,000 sponsorship for naming the four main hallways at CPET.

Covestro engineers enhance skills at San Jac's hands-on training program

The LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology at San Jacinto College hosted an instrumentation training boot camp for Covestro engineers.
CPET Students
CPET is phenomenally equipped with the newest and most relevant technology and equipment. The institution helps us ensure our employees' continuous development and growth, which will aid in our retention and attraction of the top talent available.”
Joe Thierry
Covestro Reliability Training Specialist

Covestro engineers spent two days in the CPET Emerson Instrumentation Labs. These labs have 16 Emerson Learning Platforms, set up in three ways, plus labs for valve and motor control. The engineers checked instruments, equipment, calculations, control valves, and pressure control.
